Dysautonomia Today
Haley Snipes Bio
Haley Snipes was a pre-med student at Volunteer State Community College when she was first diagnosed with POTs. With her new diagnosis, she had to drop out of medical school because she could no longer handle the 12 hour days and sleepless nights of studying. With her straight A grades and knowledge of medicine from her pathology and anatomy and physiology training, she was determined to find her place in the medical community.
After taking a gap year to rest and recover after her initial POTs diagnosis, Haley finished her Associates of Heath Science degree at Volunteer State. The year of her graduation she also received her Fibromyalgia and IBS diagnoses. The last two years of searching for diagnoses, running tests, and dealing with countless doctors, nurses, and physical therapists brought her attention to just how hard it is for a Dysautonomia patient to find a good team of doctors and a good treatment strategy to peruse. Upon discovering the importance of patient education and patient self advocacy, she decided to peruse medical journalism to help educate the Dysautonomia community and create a website for patients to find clear and concise information pertaining to treatments, lifestyle, education, and mental health for dysautonomia patients.
